HCA graduate team takes top honor at virtual case competition
April 27, 2023 — DENTON — A graduate team from Texas Woman’s Health Care Administration Department took the top prize at the 13th Annual Case Competition hosted by the George McMillan Fleming Center for Healthcare Management at UTHealth Houston on April 1.
Two TWU teams made up of MHA and MHA/MBA students from the Houston and Dallas campuses participated in the virtual competition. Team members Kylie Furr, Anita Datta, Ernesto Rodriguez, Yesica Iribe and Michelle Muecke, received a $1500 prize for placing first.
Students applied what they have learned in the classroom to a real-world problem and developed a solution to a health-care management-related case study. Teams were judged on their case analysis and presentations.
“Our winning team had the opportunity for an in-depth interview with Dr Aanand Naik, the author and primary investigator of the original funded study that prompted the case study on sustainability of the program, from the University of Texas Health Science Center Geriatrics Program,” said health care administration interim program director and faculty advisor Sandra Murdock. “He and a couple of his colleagues wanted to further discuss the team’s analysis and future recommendations.”
