What can I request?
Books & Book Chapters
Physical books or electronic copies of chapters of physical or ebooks may be requested through ILL within copyright law limits. Reference books, entire ebooks, textbooks, or rare books are not available through ILL.
Journal Articles
We digitize and deliver electronic copies of articles to your ILLiad account. If the article is not available in our collections, then we will send your request to other libraries.
Many popular and scholarly journals are accessible in online databases. Start your search in Browzine to see what's available.
TWU Libraries also has a limited number of older, physical journals available in our various campus library collections. Please submit ILL requests for specific articles or if you'd like to view these journals in-person, please contact us ahead of time to verify availability.
Theses & Dissertations
A wide range of theses and dissertations are accessible in online databases.
One of the most efficient methods to request a thesis or dissertation is to first locate it in WorldCat.
- Navigate to WorldCat
- Enter your search terms into the search field.
- Use the Format filter on the left to limit the results to Thesis/Dissertation.
- When you locate the resource, click on the title.
- Options for access will be available on the right side of the page.
- Follow the prompts for Open Access.
- If it’s not Open Access, click on the View access options button.
- Under Access Online - Find Full-Text, click the “Access” link.
- A new window should open with the citation information. Follow the instructions listed in the Get It section.
Important Note on Theses & Dissertations:
If the thesis or dissertation is not readily accessible online and it’s necessary to submit an ILL request for the item, please note that typically only the institution that granted the degree will own the thesis or dissertation. Not all institutions make theses or dissertations available for loan. If available, a fee might be required, and you will be notified via email of the cost before we continue processing your request. If you accept the costs, you will not be charged until the material arrives.
