Hansen-Thomas, Ong named to state board

March 19, 2024 — DENTON — The Texas Women in Higher Education (TWHE) just received an extra dose of Pioneer power from Texas Woman’s University when the organization named Holly Hansen-Thomas, PhD, and Rosalind Ong to its board of directors.
 
“I am really excited to get the opportunity to work with so many amazing women in the higher ed space in Texas,” said Hansen-Thomas, vice provost of research, innovation and corporate engagement. “I was surprised and honored when I found out. I am thrilled to contribute to this important mission as an incoming member of the board of directors.”
 
Ong is the director of learning outcomes assessment at San Antonio College, but also a PhD student in TWU’s Education, Leadership and Organization program and a PULSE Scholar.
 
“I am excited to work with the TWHE community and serve as a new partner, sharing experiences and expertise as we navigate higher education leadership,” Ong said.
 
TWHE is the American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network state organization for Texas. It focuses on moving the needle for women in higher education leadership roles by offering opportunities for development, collaboration and support with the goal of helping women succeed and advance in their careers.
 
The board of TWHE is dedicated to developing, advancing and supporting women employed at colleges and universities across the state of Texas. Unlike organizations focused on one area of responsibility, TWHE serves women in all sectors of higher education — public and private, university and community college — working in all areas of their institutions.
 
“I joined TWHE so that I could learn from and engage in important conversations with peers, mentors, and mentees in higher education throughout the state. TWHE is an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women of all backgrounds, disciplines and areas in higher education, and I look forward to the strategic planning we will be doing as a board,” Hansen-Thomas said.
 
Ong joined the TWHE because she is passionate about higher education and supporting women to collaborate and lead higher education locally, statewide and nationally.
 
“The mission and vision of the organization resonates with my desire to serve in a role that intentionally provides programming to create higher education spaces that reflect our communities and foster a sense of belonging,” Ong said.
