STUNT senior showed prowess in sport, academics

Lauren Murphy holds up her TWU graduation tassle.

It’s hard to tell which part of being a student-athlete Lauren Murphy is better at. The supporting evidence is strong on both fronts for Murphy, who graduates Dec. 16 with a Bachelor of Science in nutritional science with a chemistry minor.

Murphy, from The Colony, is both a member of and a coach’s assistant for the TWU STUNT team. STUNT is one of the fastest growing female sports in the country and Murphy became the first TWU STUNT athlete to be named All-American Honorable Mention in May 2022.

That’s the athlete in her. She’s demonstrated academic talent, as well.

Murphy was also a College STUNT Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll recipient in 2023. She chose TWU for her degree because of the university’s diverse student body and its excellence in the field of nutrition and science.

She decided to study nutrition because her older brother, himself a graduate of Texas Woman’s, owns his own nutrition company. Murphy is taking cues from her athletic and academic experiences to help frame her career aspirations. She hopes to help others learn how to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle through education and leadership.

After graduation, she plans to work as a health coach for iCoach Nutrition.
