On September 17, 2019, TWU held several events for students, faculty, staff and the Denton community. The day also commemorated the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
The events included: voter registration tables, a historical re-enactment featuring Alice Paul, American suffragist and women’s rights activist, and a screening of Iron Jawed Angels, a movie depicting the story of women’s suffrage.
There also was a panel discussion on “What Do Political Parties Do (and How Can I Help?)” with Jayne Howell, Denton County Republican Chair, and Angie Cadena, Denton County Democratic Chair.
The events were hosted by TWU Libraries, the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy and the History & Political Science Department.
