Students have an opportunity to work in different communities dealing with issues of disaster relief, environmental restoration, HIV/AIDS, education, homelessness, healthcare, poverty and immigration. Alternative Breaks main goal is to educate participants about the root causes of these issues, while also making an immediate difference in the community.
The 2019 Alternative Breaks locations include:
Camp Summit: Located in Paradise, Texas. This camp focuses on helping special needs campers from ages 5 to 99 function and have a good time in a camp environment.
Center for Ethical Living & Social Justice Renewal: New Orleans, Louisiana. This organization focuses on social justice curriculum, social change and community organization to forward social justice issues in the context of the ongoing rebuilding of New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina in lower SES communities and communities of color.
Alternative Spring Break Date: March 9 – 15.
Registration Fee: $300, Due March 9, 2019.
Registration fee covers food, lodging, and transportation for the entire week. We will also have payment plan and fundraising opportunities.
