MAT - Art Education

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree program leads to initial teacher certification awarded by the State Board for Educator Certification. The MAT program develops educators who are engaged, prepared and professional. Graduates will be fluent in evidence-based practices related to pedagogy, classroom management and culturally responsive teaching.

The MAT with an Emphasis in Art Education prepares educator candidates for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) exam (State Board for Educator Certification through the Texas Education Agency). If you are a resident of another state, contact the Office of Educator Preparation Services to determine whether our program fulfills requirements to take the certification exam in your home state.
