TWU Regents approve faculty promotions and tenure


DENTON/DALLAS/HOUSTON – The Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents approved promotions and tenure recommendations at its quarterly meeting June 7 in Dallas.

Associate Professors Dr. Patricia Bowyer (occupational therapy – Houston) and Dr. Donna Scott Tilley (nursing) were promoted to professor and granted tenure. Professor Dr. Patti Hamilton (nursing) and associate professor Dr. Stephanie Woods (nursing – Dallas), the associate nursing dean in Dallas, also received tenure.

Associate Professor Dr. Gayle Roux (nursing) was promoted to professor. Associate Professors Dr. Carolyn Kelley (physical therapy – Houston), Dr. Noralyn Pickens (occupational therapy – Dallas), Dr. Roberta Toms (nursing–Houston) and Dr. Kai-Li Tsai (health care administration – Houston) received tenure.

Assistant professors Dr. Erika Armstrong (communication sciences), Dr. Vicki Baker (music), Mr. Jordan Fuchs (dance), Dr. Barbara Gray (nursing – Dallas), Dr. Janine Golden (library science), Dr. Elizabeth McCarroll (family sciences), Dr. Carolyn Moore (nutrition and food sciences – Houston), Ms. Jana Perez (visual arts), Dr. Anne Selcer (health care administration – Houston) and Dr. Brigitte Vittrup (family sciences) were promoted to associate professor and granted tenure.

Associate clinical professor Ms. Cathy Hueske (nursing – Houston) was promoted to clinical professor. Assistant clinical professors Ms. Kathryn Kremer (nursing – Dallas), Dr. Mark Phelps (health care administration – Houston), Ms. Ann St. Germain (nursing – Houston) and Ms. Mary Rochelle Schultz (nursing – Houston) were promoted to associate clinical professor.

Several retiring faculty were awarded emeritus status by the Regents. Dr. JoAnn Danelo Barbour, professor of educational leadership; Dr. Carolyn Bednar, professor of nutrition and food sciences; Dr. Jo Ann Engelbrecht, professor of family sciences and director of research and sponsored programs; Dr. Patrica Holden-Huchton, professor and dean of the College of Nursing; and Dr. Paula Ann Hughes, professor and director of the School of Management, were named Professor Emerita. Dr. James Chenevert, professor of music, was named Professor Emeritus. Dr. Ronald A. Fannin, associate professor of family sciences, was named Associate Professor Emeritus.
