TWU to host Power of a Healthy Woman Event March 2


DENTON — The Annual Power of a Healthy Woman event will take place Saturday, March 2 in Hubbard Hall on the Texas Woman’s University Denton campus.

The event, designed to increase knowledge of health risks among women and to raise awareness about disease prevention and health promotion, will begin at 8 a.m. The registration fee, which includes lunch, is $35. TWU students pay $20. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Feb. 27. To register or for more information, visit

The keynote speaker for the event is Linda Noble-Topf, national advocate for disability rights, who will speak on “The Spiritual Power of a Healthy Woman.” Featured speakers include Dr. Joseph Valenti, an OBGYN in Denton; Dr. Scott Conard, chief medical officer at Compass Professional Health Services in Irving; Leah Scoggins, director of health risk management at Higginbotham, a Texas-based insurance, risk management and financial services company; and Mary Ann Michael, who serves as the health strategies consultant for the Texas and Oklahoma regions for the United Healthcare insurance company.
