TWU adds three more Denton apartment complexes to its TWU Select Apartments

DENTON — The Texas Woman’s University Department of Housing will add three more Denton apartment complexes to its TWU Select Apartments housing options for students.

TWU, via agreement with Scott Brown Properties, has approved a lease of the Withers Place Apartments, located at 517 Withers Street; the La Maureta Apartments, located at 417 Withers Street; and the Vineyard Apartments, located at 902 Vine Street in August 2013.

These additions to the TWU Select Apartments add 74 beds to TWU Housing options.

According to Dr. Richard Nicholas, TWU vice president for student life, these new complexes meet TWU’s housing requirements of standards of condition, proximity to campus, on-site parking and security. TWU also will have personnel living and working at the complexes, and the TWU Department of Public Safety will provide security.

The university requires most students who have less than 60 hours of course credit to live on campus, unless the student lives at home with parents. TWU is experiencing both continued freshman enrollment growth and increased retention of existing students in university housing, which is up 9 percent this year.

“Students are recognizing the value that living on campus provides for their academic success, and our growth, retention and more students wanting to continue to live on campus is creating a record demand for housing,” Dr. Nicholas said. “TWU is working diligently to meet this demand for our students.”

The TWU Select Apartments began in 2011 with the Bent Tree, Lone Star and Austin Place complexes joining the university’s housing options. The university also is looking at possibly adding at least one more apartment complex to the program prior to the fall semester.

TWU Select Apartments are available to TWU upper-classmen. Details about floor plans and housing rates are available at or by calling (940) 898-3676.
