TWU to host 20th annual Monster Flute Choir Concert


The Texas Woman’s University and Brookhaven College flute choirs will join forces for the 20th annual Monster Flute Choir Concert — just in time for Halloween.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located on Pioneer Circle at Oakland Street on TWU’s Denton campus. Admission is free, and audience members are encouraged to attend in costume. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.

Guest artist Paige Long is an internationally recognized flute choir director and contrabass flutist. She directs the Metropolitan Flute Orchestra in summer residence at the New England Conservatory and the Florida Flute Orchestra. She performs with the International Flute Orchestra and has performed in France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Mexico and more.

The TWU and Brookhaven flute choirs are under the direction of Dr. Pamela Youngblood, TWU professor of music and chair of the TWU Department of Music and Drama.
