TWU Drama presents 'Circle Mirror Transformation'


DENTON — The Texas Woman’s University drama program presents “Circle Mirror Transformation” by Annie Baker. The production will run Oct. 3-7.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3; 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4; 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. All performances will take place in the Redbud Theater Complex, located on the north side of historic Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. “Circle Mirror Transformation,” written by Annie Baker, one of the hottest young playwrights in New York City, premiered Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in October 2009 and received Obie Awards for Best New American Play and Performance, Ensemble.

Set in mythical Shirley, Vt., five people gather to take a theater class at the local community center. Through the innocent and often hilarious theater exercises, each one makes important discoveries. Change happens. Hearts are broken. Life goes on.

TWU alumna Amber Devlin directs the production. The cast includes Averie Bell, Jacob Drum, Julia Bodiford, Channing Stephens and Colton Jones. Michael Stephens, TWU technical director, will provide the lighting design. Costume design is by Jonathan Charles. Austin Rogers is the sound designer, and Taylor Reed designed the props. Emily Johns serves as stage manager.
