Orientation for International Students

The Wednesday prior to the first day of classes, the International Student Orientation is held. This is mandatory to attend, along with the general orientation for the various academic disciplines in the days that follow (Thursday, Friday or Saturday).

  • The content for the International Orientation covers immigration rules, expectations for maintaining status, what to anticipate at the Houston site with the demanding curriculums, and some guidance in navigating some of the situations that tend to arise. More details can be found on the Orientation Details web page.
  • In general, this orientation is very relational in nature, giving people the opportunity to get to know one another, and to hear from some of the staff in a different manner than they will experience in the General Orientations the following days.
  • A tour of the tunnels in Texas Medical Center is always part of this orientation. Students will get a firsthand look at “underground city” that connects so many of the buildings within the Medical Center. It is something not to be missed!
