Dallas Pop-Up Clinics

Dallas Pop-Up Clinics are hosted by TWU Student Health Services and provide opportunities for Dallas students to see health providers on campus. 

Appointments are required and must be scheduled by 4 p.m. on the Friday prior to the Monday clinic.

What kind of services does TWU SHS provide?

The scope of clinic services is comparable to what you would receive from your family physician with a focus on primary and preventative healthcare. Services are confidential and include but are not limited to:  

  • Immunizations
  • Mental Health
  • Psychiatry (by referral)
  • Well Woman/Well Man (birth control, pap smear, pregnancy testing, STI testing etc.)
  • Physical Exams
  • Care for episodic illness (upper respiratory, UTI, muscle strain, sprains, injuries, etc.)
  • Care for medical conditions (diabetes, acne, hypertension, etc.)
  • Lab and imaging tests can be ordered
  • Referrals to specialists
  • TWU Health Services providers can prescribe and refill most medications 

Are SHS services provided on the Dallas Campus?

Yes, SHS offers a monthly clinic at the Dallas campus. In Spring 2025, clinics are offered the fourth Monday of each month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Nursing Simulation Lab Rm 4700.

Do I need an appointment to receive services?

Yes, to be seen at the Dallas campus, students must schedule an appointment prior to 5 p.m. the Friday before the clinic. Students may schedule appointments online at the TWU Student Patient Portal or by calling SHS Denton at 940-898-3826.

What are my options if I am unavailable during the clinic times at the Dallas campus?

In-person: Dallas students may elect to be seen in person at SHS Denton. Appointments are available Mon-Thurs 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Fridays 8-11:30 a.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. For an appointment, visit us at the TWU Student Patient Portal or call us at  940-898-3826.

Telehealth: SHS offers some services via telehealth, including mental health. To request a telehealth appointment, call SHS during business hours: 940-898-3826.

Does SHS offer the immunizations that are required by my clinical practicum site?

Yes, SHS has a dedicated Immunization Compliance Specialist, Sibel Meric, who helps TWU students meet compliance requirements for their offsite clinical/experiential activities. Her phone number is 940-898-3825.

Does SHS offer and/or accept insurance?

Yes, TWU offers a student health insurance plan. We accept our own TWU plan along with several others insurance plans. When using insurance, the cost of your visit will depend on your health plan benefits.

What is the cost of a visit without insurance?

The cost varies depending on the type of appointment. 

  • Office visit  $20
  • Telehealth visit $20* 
  • Mental Health visit $40- for new in-person visits 
  • $25- for follow up in person  
  • Psychiatry (virtual) $25 (by referral only)

*All telehealth visits are $20, regardless of visit type.

Does SHS prescribe mental health medications?

Yes, SHS providers treat a range of mental health issues, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and adjustment issues related to college. Students with more complex mental health illnesses may be referred to an SHS contract psychiatrist.

What other resources does SHS Offer?

Academic Live CARE – ALC is a virtual platform that SHS has piloted for the last two years that provides Dallas and Houston students access to 24/7 urgent care and on-demand counseling, nutrition counseling and various online tools.  ALC user guide Coupon Code Required:  TWUDALLAS or TWUDALLAS24.

TWU Campus Well – Provides access to online videos, articles and information about a range of topics, including nutrition, recipes, relationships, fitness, physical, mental health & financial wellness, academics tips and strategies.
