Is certification included in the Sterile Processing Technician program?

The Sterile Processing Technician Program prepares students to pursue national certification as a Sterile Processing Technician through one of two recognized certifying organizations. Exam fees and certification costs are included in the program:

  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), or
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

The applicable certification pathway is designated prior to program start and may be determined based on employer requirements, workforce board designation, or individual student circumstances. While all students receive certification-aligned instruction, certification requirements, testing procedures, eligibility criteria, and credential issuance differ by certifying body and are governed solely by the applicable organization.
