Show off your Pioneer Spirit in a TWU photo booth hosted by the Student Union during Pioneer Camp and Maroon Madness weeks and take your perfect pic!

Pioneer Camp Online Module: Financial Well-Being

3 - 4 p.m. • Online Live Session for First-Year Students
Join us for our live session this afternoon to provide an opportunity for students to learn a little about TWU history and traditions, as well as connect to other students in your college.

Pick up painting kits from the Pioneer Camp Check-in while supplies last. Watch the guided session with artist Eva Azul on the TWU Student Union Pioneer Engage to create your very own Oakley the Owl painting.

Pioneer Camp Online Module: Student Services

10 a.m. • Online First-Year Convocation
Join us virtually for this year’s First-Year Convocation, the formal induction ceremony of the incoming class into the academic community of Texas Woman’s University. This is a momentous event signaling the beginning of your college career.

1 - 5 p.m. • New Student Ring Pick-Up
Bring the card that you received during Pioneer Camp check-in to the location listed on the card and pick up your new student ring. Be sure to include your name and ID# on the card.

Friday, August 21

Pioneer Camp Online Module: Get Involved

9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. • Interactive Theater
Southwest Ballroom, Student Union at Hubbard Hall
Engage with the Texas Woman’s University Interactive Theatre Troupe (TWU ITT) during their “Welcome to College” performance.

5 - 8 p.m. • Block Party
Attend one of four parties and kick off the new academic year! Residential students will find wristbands and instructions in the housing check-in folder. Commuter students who show their TWU student ID will receive a wristband at the Yellow Party check-in tent.

  • Guinn Hall: Green Party – TWU Amphitheater
  • Lowry & Stark Halls: Blue Party – TWU Greenhouse
  • Parliament North and South Halls: Pink Party – Dining Hall Backyard
  • Parliament Mary’s Hall and Commuter Students: Yellow Party – Pioneer Park

Bring your wristband (housing students), TWU ID (commuter students), face covering, and social distancing picnic blanket (from Pioneer Camp check-in)

Join us for live Q&A sessions with a few special student groups throughout the day:

  • Veterans (9 - 10 a.m.)
  • Students with Children (11 a.m. - Noon)
  • (Frontiers Students: 2 - 3 p.m.)

This year we will have a mix of virtual and in-person volunteer projects you can select.

5 p.m. • TWU TikTok Takeover (sponsored by Student Union, Center for Student Development, TWU Athletics)

  1. Watch and learn the TWU TikTok dance created by our very own Pioneer Dance Team on Pioneer Engage between Aug. 20–22.
  2. Wear your TWU gear and record yourself doing the dance.
  3. Post the dance on TikTok on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.
  4. Don’t forget the hashtag: #twutakeover!
  5. KEEP THE DANCE A SECRET UNTIL SATURDAY!

4 - 6 p.m. • Wellapalooza (sponsored by Health and Wellbeing & Fitness and Recreation)
Fitness and Recreation Center
Wellapalooza is TWU’s first showcase fair featuring the Health & Wellbeing and Fitness & Recreation departments! Explore the many dimensions of wellbeing and fitness on campus through interactive QR booths and outdoor wellness activities. Take a demo group exercise class, try the slack line or disc golf, tour the fitness center, or participate in Chalk Talk. You can even recreate childhood memories with hopscotch, hula hoops, or pool noodle races. Looking forward to having you join us!

Get your move on with your first-ever multi-DJ home dance party!

  1. Check out the Pioneer Pinterest for ways to deck out your home party space.
  2. On-campus residents can pick up a party kit from Pioneer Camp check-in.
  3. Join the virtual event through Pioneer Engage and choose your DJ:
    DJ SNACKS (Electronic Pop), White Boy Boogie (Hip Hop), DJ Dupree (Latin).

A pre-recorded children’s dance party will be available on Pioneer Engage to use at a time that is most convenient for families.
