Graduate Eligibility for Internship (Probationary Certificate)
Candidates seeking approval for the Graduate Practicum course for the Master of Arts in Teaching or Post-Baccalaureate Initial Teacher Certification programs must submit a Graduate Internship Application.
The Office of Educator Preparation Services will provide the candidate with a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) once the candidate receives an offer of employment from an accredited public or private school. Candidates requesting a Probationary Certificate must meeting the following requirements:
- Successful completion of all TExES certification exams appropriate with the certification field sought,
- Successful completion with a grade of “B” or better in EDUC 5113, EDUC 5133, EDUC 5133, EDUC 5143, and a minimum 30 hours of early field-based experience,
- Have a 3.0 overall GPA; and,
- Be in good standing with the university.
The candidate must return the completed Statement of Eligibility for Internship to the TWU Office of Educator Preparation Services to verify employment as the "teacher-of-record" in the certification area. Then the candidate will apply online for a probationary certificate, valid for one calendar year to meet state certification. To apply for a probationary certificate, create an online account, apply, pay fees, and meet the requirements for a criminal background check.
The candidate will register for EDUC 5936, Internship in Teaching, for two consecutive semesters.
