Nursing CAS Frequently Asked Questions

Q.    Do I have to be a current TWU student to apply to NursingCAS?

A.     Yes.  Only valid TWU students will be considered for upper-division nursing admission.  If not a current student, apply first to TWU using ApplyTexas. Apply to TWU several weeks in advance of the nursing application deadline to ensure your application to TWU is processed in time for you to complete your NursingCAS application by the deadline.  You will need to submit your TWU Colleague ID number and TWU email address for verification as part of your NursingCAS application.

Q.   Do I need to send copies of my transcripts to NursingCAS?

A.   Yes. Copies of official transcripts from institutions where college credits were earned should be sent the TWU Office of Admissions Processing in Denton and NursingCAS. Applicants who have only attended TWU must still send their TWU official transcript to NursingCAS

Q.   Do I need to enter my coursework into NursingCAS?

A.    Yes. You must enter all coursework where college credits were earned. All nursing core courses must be completed prior to submitting your application. You may enter courses in progress or plan to take before the application deadline for the semester you are seeking to enroll in the pre-licensure BSN program. Please do not submit your application until you have completed the course(s). Remember that official transcripts must be sent to the TWU Office of Admissions Processing in Denton and NursingCAS. NursingCAS will verify your courses and grades earned once transcripts are received.

Q.   What does it mean that my application is verified?

A.    Verified– NursingCAS has cross checked your official transcripts with your Coursework entered in the “Transcript Entry” section and has Verified your information is correct, then we calculate multiple GPAs for the program(s) to use to make admissions decisions. Transcript verification by NursingCAS can take up to two weeks. NursingCAS application status information to help you understand the progress of your application can be found here.

Q.   How do I monitor the status of my NursingCAS application?

A.    Once submitted, you will not be able to monitor the status of your application through NursingCAS.  TWU Nursing staff will contact you, using the email address listed within your NursingCAS account, should we have questions about your application.  Admissions decisions will also be emailed.  Make certain that NursingCAS is on your “safe senders” list within your email account to avoid our notifications being marked as spam.
