Requirements for Admission

Apply to a TWU Nursing graduate program

Candidates for unconditional admission to our master’s programs are required to meet TWU’s general requirements for graduate admission and:

  • Obtain a current license to practice professional nursing in the United States;
  • Complete a basic statistics course;
  • Complete an accredited baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing; and,
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework toward a nursing degree and in any prior graduate coursework.

Prior to enrolling in clinical nursing classes, students must also provide proof of professional liability insurance and licensure.

Additional Requirements for Doctoral Programs

Students looking to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing Science must also meet the following requirements:

  • Complete an accredited master’s degree with a major in nursing
  • DNP applicants: current U.S. RN license (unencumbered) is required. If applicable, must have an unencumbered APRN license, APRN certification (nationally accredited) or eligibility to be recognized as an APRN in any state.

  • Provide curriculum vitae or resume, two letters of recommendation and a letter discussing professional goals
