TWU Theatre presents ‘The Architecture of Loss’

Nov. 6, 2019 – DENTON— The Texas Woman’s University Theatre Program continues its 2019-2020 season with the world premiere of “The Architecture of Loss.”

Performance times are:

• 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20
• 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21
• 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22
• 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23
• 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23
• 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24

All performances will take place in the Redbud Theater Complex, located on the north side of Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The Saturday afternoon performance will have a cash-only, pay-what-you-can option available at the box office. “The Architecture of Loss” is an original, devised piece written and created in conjunction with the Theatre Program’s fall 2019 devising class. Assistant professor Noah Lelek, Ph.D., will direct. The production will integrate elements theatre, dance and music to explore and express feelings of loss, grief and healing in the aftermath of death.

“Architecture” also will make its international premiere at the International Conference on the Arts in Society in Galway, Ireland during the summer of 2020.

The cast of “Architecture” features undergraduates Olivia Andrade, Ciara Armstrong, William Clark, Alexander Delacruz-Nunez, Jesus Gonzalez, Stephanie Jasper, Lauren Jordan, Abel Mathew, Liam Prendergast, Grant Tidwell and Damon Wadyko as well as graduate student Kathryn McGinness.

This production will feature set and costume design by associate professor Rhonda Gorman, lighting design by Lelek in conjunction with undergraduates Patrick Bohmier and Erik Collins, and sound design by Long Ho. Assistant professor of dance Ilana Morgan, Ph.D., will serve as movement director, assistant professor of theatre Russell McKinley will serve as technical director, and graduate student Michael Cleveland will serve as both composer and projection designer with projection assistance from Patrick Bohmier. The production also will feature an original musical composition by theatre production manager Emily Johns. Undergraduate student Sydney Sandburg will serve as stage manager, with Emma Smith and Kendal Clemmons as assistant stage managers. Long Ho will serve as assistant director.
