University to conduct winter commencement
Ceremonies in Houston Dec. 9, in Denton Dec. 11 and Dec. 12

DENTON/DALLAS/HOUSTON— The fall 2015 semester at Texas Woman’s University will draw to a close with commencement ceremonies scheduled Wednesday, Dec. 9 in Houston and Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12 on the university’s Denton campus.
The Denton ceremonies include candidates from TWU’s Dallas Center. Approximately 1,439 degrees will be awarded during the Denton ceremonies. Approximately 146 degrees will be awarded during the Houston ceremony.
Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend the Denton and Houston ceremonies.
The Houston ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 in the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel. State Sen. Sylvia R. Garcia will deliver the commencement address. Sen. Garcia is a TWU Distinguished Alumna.
Denton ceremonies will take place in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue.
Ceremony I is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11. Ellen M. Painter, community relations contractor for the Palette Marketing Group, assigned to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, will address the graduates. Roslyn Dawson Thompson, president and CEO of the Dallas Women’s Foundation, will speak during Ceremony II, scheduled for 2 p.m.
Anne Simpson, Ph.D., Cornaro Professor of Reading and director of Reading Recovery® at TWU, will deliver the commencement address during Ceremony III, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Ceremony IV is scheduled for 2 p.m., with Louise Appleman, owner of Appleman & Associates, addressing the graduates. Appleman is a TWU Distinguished Alumna.
