Frances Orteza

Frances Orteza is a second year graduate student earning a Master of Arts in Music Performance. She is currently studying flute with Dr. Pamela Youngblood. As a graduate assistant for the TWU flute studio, Frances enjoys teaching weekly studio classes, assisting with woodwind methods, and teaching private lessons.

Frances has enjoyed performing at the national level at the National Flute Association convention with the TWU flute choir and the NFA Collegiate Flute Choir. On campus at TWU, Frances was one of two winners in the department concerto competition. She will perform with the TWU wind symphony in the spring. As a young professional, Frances is on the board of the Texas Flute Society as their Publicity Coordinator. She also recently interned at the NFA convention in Chicago.

Before coming to TWU, Frances earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She studied flute with Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich. Frances is currently certified to teach PreK-12 music in Pennsylvania, and hopes to find employment in this field upon graduating from TWU.
