Class Descriptions

Piano for Beginners, Level I

If your child has ever expressed interest in playing the piano, this class is for you! Designed for students ages 6-9, Piano for Beginners offers an introduction to piano through group activities. Students will learn fundamental rhythm patterns, essential music theory concepts, and a variety of solo and ensemble piano repertoire.

Beginning Adult Piano, Level I

Have you always wanted to play piano? Maybe you wish you had never quit when you were a child. Now is your chance to fulfill your lifelong dream! Beginning Adult Piano is designed for adults with no background in piano. Classes will focus on developing reading skills and understanding fundamental music theory concepts. By the end of this course, you will have learned repertoire in a variety of styles, and you will have the tools to continue learning on your own.

Guitar for Beginners, Level I

Guitar for Beginners is designed for students with no background in music. In addition to developing rhythm and music reading skills, students will learn common guitar chords that can be used when reading from a fake book. Classes will include a mixture of popular and classical repertoire.

Music and Movement

Music and Movement classes offer preschool children the opportunity to experience music in a group environment. Classes will involve movement-based rhythm activities accompanied by music in various styles. Students will have the opportunity to play percussion instruments both on their own and in the context of a larger group. Music and Movement classes provide an excellent introduction to piano or guitar lessons. Note: One parent must be present for the duration of each class.

Voice Class

This class is designed for students who wish to develop their unique voice. Vocal repertoire will consist primarily of well-known folk songs and popular standards.
