Scholarships and Ways to Give
Limited funds are available periodically from various sources to assist deserving students who have demonstrated potential for academic excellence and professional development as well as financial need.
For general financial aid information including deadlines, cost of attendance and application forms for university-wide scholarships, please visit TWU Financial Aid. Graduate student applicants are encouraged to apply for the New Graduate Student Scholarship prior to admission.
Paul P. and Arlee N. Young Scholarship
This scholarship, established by family and friends of Paul P. and Arlee N. Young, is awarded to a history or political science student who has demonstrated academic excellence, a commitment to professional development and has a financial need.
To apply, students must:
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
- Complete 60 credit hours at the time of applying
- Be enrolled as a full-time student.
The Ada Cade McCury and Martha Faye McCury Savage Scholarship
This scholarship, established by the estate of Martha Faye McCury Savage, is awarded to a history or political science student who has demonstrated academic excellence, commitment to professional development through community service and has a financial need. Students who are currently enrolled in community colleges or other universities who would like to transfer to TWU during the coming academic year are encouraged to apply.
To apply, students must:
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Have completed at least 45 credit hours at the time of application
- Be enrolled as a full-time student
Professor and Mrs. John L. Dawson and Dr. and Mrs. Hubert G. Driggs Scholarship
This scholarship, established by gifts from Professor and Mrs. John L. Dawson and Dr. and Mrs. Hubert G. Driggs, is to be awarded primarily to new students entering as freshmen or transfers to our program. These scholarships are available both to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, continuing undergraduate students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and who are majoring or minoring in one of our programs will also be given consideration.
Application Requirements and Deadlines

Ways to Give
Contributions to the Friends of History and Political Science enhance our programs and are greatly appreciated. Funds donated to this program support social and educational interactions between faculty and students and an end of the year reception for students and graduate students.
- Make a credit card donation to the Friends of History and Political Science account: During the donation process, make sure that you select "Other" within the "Designation" section of the online form and then type "Friends of History and Political Science" in the provided form field.
