Library Acquisitions Requests

The University is committed to a Library policy that provides a variety of resources to meet the curricular and research needs of the students and faculty. Faculty members are invited and expected to make appropriate requests to maintain basic and current holdings in their respective disciplines. Funds from the Library budget are allocated to every academic component for the purchase of books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials. Faculty are especially encouraged to select the classics in their disciplines, primary source materials, journals that record the most significant research, and audio-visual materials that will enrich the curriculum. Faculty members should present their requests to their component library representative who, in turn, gathers and sends the approved requests to the Acquisitions Librarian.

Reserve Materials

Faculty members may place materials from the Texas Woman's University Library collections on reserve. Faculty may also place personal copies of materials on reserve. Forms for listing materials to be placed on reserve are available from the Circulation Desk or by using the .

Faculty members should allow three working days for the library staff to locate and prepare the materials for use. Materials will be removed from reserve as soon as possible following the end of the semester of use unless renewed by the instructor. Single copies of journal articles will, upon request, be placed on reserve for specific courses. A week should be allowed for this type of material because of the preparation time required. Electronic reserves are available.
