Welcome to 2015 and the spring semester

Happy New Year to all and welcome back to campus!

Despite the often gray and cold winter weather, I like this time of year because it is all about looking forward and a frame of mind that is positive: new expectations; new commitments; new resolutions; new ways of thinking…overall, wanting to make the year ahead better than the previous one.

Also, at the beginning of a new year, I always think of the African concept of “Ubuntu”... acknowledging that as humans we cannot exist in isolation but need each other to achieve our goals. Borrowing on Bishop Desmond Tutu’s condensed definition: “I am because you are.”

May this be the spirit that guides our relationships and make 2015 a year of many successes.

Best,
