Mission & Goals

The Center for Women Entrepreneurs will assist women who are current or prospective business owners in Texas with two primary services: 1.) education and support services related to starting or growing a business, and 2.) research regarding the intersection of women and entrepreneurship. The education services of the Center will be directed primarily to women entrepreneurs, current and prospective, in Texas and secondarily to students at TWU.

Goal for the Community

TWU's Center for Women Entrepreneurs will serve as a business-growth resource for business owners or potential entrepreneurs through one-on-one coaching, special events, networking and education.

Goal for Students

TWU's Center for Women Entrepreneurs prepares TWU students with the development of practical skills to reach their entrepreneurial goals.

Through a partnership with the State of Texas, TWU is the first Texas university to offer annual scholarships to undergraduate and master's-level students to help them innovate and launch businesses upon graduation. You can renew this annual scholarship up to two years (total potential value of $2,000), if you meet extracurricular requirements.

Goal for Scholarly Knowledge

TWU's Center for Women Entrepreneurs will become a leader in generating research and will create a repository for studies focused on women business owners in Texas and across the nation.

While the Kauffman Foundation is recognized as the oracle of information regarding entrepreneurship, TWU's Center for Women Entrepreneurs wants to fine tune this focus to women business ownership and research. We will work in concert with other institutes, organizations and universities well seated in this area of research.
