Dr. Anne Utech

TWU alumna, Dr. Anne Utech, is a leader for the dietary needs of the clients for America’s largest integrated health care system. In February, 2013, she was named the Deputy National Director of Nutrition and Food Services for the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Washington, D. C. The VHA serves over 8.3 million Veterans each year at more than 1,700 sites.

Prior to her new appointment in Washington, D. C., Dr. Utech served as the health promotion disease prevention manager for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in the Texas Medical Center, Houston, which serves more than 122,000 veterans in Houston and six regional outpatient clinics. She began her career at the medical center in 2004 as a dietitian.

Dr. Utech’s many awards and honors include receiving a 2010 American Dietetic Association Foundation Scholarship, being recognized as the 2011 Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the Houston Area Dietetic Association and receiving the 2010 Outstanding Nutrition Education Award from the Houston Area Dietetic Association.

Dr. Utech credits the degrees she earned at TWU for her career success. “I’m proud of my degrees because of the national reputation TWU has in the health sciences, which I feel makes me stand out as I advance in my career,” said Dr. Utech.
