Attend a Pioneer Preview Day

As a transfer student, you may be admitted under one of the two following categories: Assured Admission or Regular Admission.

Assured Admission

Students read and relax on the lawn at TWU's Denton campus.

Your admission is automatically approved if you meet all of the following:

  • Earned an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the State of Texas, and
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on all transferable college work*
  • In good standing with the previous institution(s)

Associate of Applied Science or equivalent degrees are not automatically admissible but may meet regular transfer admission criteria for specific programs.

*All grades, including F's, will be considered for calculation of GPA to determine admission. Several departments have higher grade point average requirements for enrollment in advanced or upper-division coursework.

Regular Admission

You meet the requirements for regular transfer admission if you meet all of the following:

  • Attended a recognized-accredited academic institution
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on all transferable college-level coursework attempted*
  • In good standing with the previous institution(s)

You may transfer credit hours from junior or community colleges. All such credit is accepted as lower-level semester credit hours unless otherwise approved by academic leadership. There is no maximum number of semester credit hours transferred from four-year institutions, and these semester credit hours will be accepted at the level taken.

*All grades, including F's, will be considered for calculation of GPA to determine admission. Several departments have higher grade point average requirements for enrollment in advanced or upper-division coursework. Developmental coursework is not transferable.

Admissions Partnerships
