There are a few things you need to do as a graduate student before classes start.

Pioneer Portal Access

 Create your Pioneer Portal account

 Set up your TWU Gmail account and check it daily

 Access SelfService

 Check with your department or Career Connections if interested in Graduate Assistantships

 Search for and apply for scholarships

  • Fall deadline: March 15
  • Spring deadline: Dec. 14

Apply for Financial Aid

 Submit a free federal OR Texas application for financial aid (FAFSA or TAFSA)

  • Applications open: Oct. 1
  • Renew FAFSA each year to qualify for more types of financial aid
  • TWU's institution code: 003646
  • TWU's FAFSA priority deadlines:
    • Summer & Fall: Jan. 15
    • Spring: Sept. 1

Meet with your Advisor

 Reference your acceptance letter for detailed information on your assigned advisor

 You can also access your assigned advisor's contact information through your Pioneer Portal account

 Schedule an appointment to go over your course outlook; this information is found on your department's website

Register for Classes

Registering early helps ensure your place in the classes you want.

Pay Tuition & Fees

 Visit the Bursar to pay for classes

  • Learn how to sign up for payment plans
  • Pay by the posted deadlines to avoid having your course schedule deleted
  • Review your tuition charges and fees
