Academic advising for Pre-Nursing students

  • The Pioneer Center for Student Excellence advises Nurse Entry (Pre-Nursing) students as they complete their prerequisites and prepare to apply to the upper division nursing program.
  • Pre-Nursing students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor each semester. Students with less than 30 credit hours or in their first semester at TWU are required to meet with an academic advisor.

Academic Advisor roles

Advisors can:

  • Help plan courses each semester
  • Explain degree requirements
  • Help navigate university academic policies
  • Find campus resources
  • Help students attain their educational goals

Advisors cannot:

  • Register students for classes
  • Get students into closed classes
  • Help students with course assignments
  • Talk to professors on student’s behalf
  • Access grades throughout the semester
