TWU schedules workshop on complex trauma in children and adolescents

DENTON — Examining the assessment and treatment issues of complex trauma in children and adolescents is the focus of a workshop scheduled Friday, April 17 at Texas Woman’s University.
The workshop will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in room 202 of the Classroom Faculty Office (CFO) Building on TWU’s Denton campus. For a map of the campus, visit www.twu.edu/maps.asp. Participants will receive 3 contact hours/.3 CEU (all ethics hours) for the completion of this workshop.
Registration prior to Tuesday, April 7 is $45 for the general public and $15 for full-time undergraduate and graduate students. After that date, those fees increase to $55 and $25, respectively. Registration and additional information are available at www.twu.edu/ce/trauma.asp.
The workshop features keynote speaker Dr. Cheryl Lanktree, executive director of the Miller Children’s Hospital Abuse and Violence Intervention Center (MCAVIC) in Long Beach, Calif. In her role at the center, Dr. Lanktree provides evaluation and treatment services for children and adolescents traumatized by child abuse and neglect, family and community violence, medical illness and family loss.
She also serves as clinical associate professor of psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles.
The workshop is presented by the TWU Social Work Program.
