10/9/07
DENTON — Beverly Hoch, an adjunct assistant professor of music in Texas Woman’s University’s School of the Arts, will hold her third annual Concert for the Cure at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. The concert, titled, “With a Voice of Singing,” will take place in the Margo Jones Auditorium, located at Oakland Street and Pioneer Circle on TWU’s Denton campus.
Admission is free, but donations to the North Texas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be accepted. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.
“It will be a real celebration of singing,” said Ms. Hoch, a soprano. She will be assisted by the 60-voice TWU Concert Choir, “Studio 322” (her current students) and TWU voice faculty. The concert will include selections of Purcell, Handel, Beach, Rorem, Benedict, Saint-Saens and others.
Last year’s “Concert for the Cure” raised more than $2,000. Ms. Hoch hopes to surpass that amount this year.
Ms. Hoch, a breast cancer survivor, served as local honorary chair for the 2006 Komen North Texas Race for the Cure®.
The North Texas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation funds programs and services for women and men in Denton, Collin and Grayson counties. Last year, $520,000 was awarded to nine programs in these areas to assist women and their families in breast cancer education, screening and treatment.
