Melanie Baker
Senior Secretary, Student Union & Commuter Services

Melanie began her career at TWU in May of 2014 as Senior Secretary for Campus Alliance for Resource Education (CARE) and the Student Union. Prior to joining TWU, Melanie enjoyed a long career in retail administration with a major national chain. In her role at TWU Melanie provides administrative support to both CARE and the Student Union. She works with a diverse group of students from traditional to veterans and commuters assisting them with their resource needs. One of her favorite parts of her job is working with students. As a Denton resident for the last four years Melanie enjoys her family including her husband, three children and two grandchildren.


Lauren Meyer
Assistant Director Student Union Programming

Lauren has been at TWU since 2013. She coordinates several of the University’s large-scale traditional programs, including Family Weekend, Senior Breakfast & Lunch, Boo at the U, and Block Party, as well as smaller-scale programs in the Student Union, such as lunchtime concerts, art classes, and vendor fairs. Lauren also advises the Student Union Board and manages the Student Union’s social media accounts. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University. Lauren truly enjoys working with college students and helping make their TWU experience rewarding.

David Sweeten
Director of the Student Union and Conference Services

David has been at TWU since 2004 and has been the Director of the Student Union since 2015. Prior to working in Conference Services, he served as the assistant director in the Student Union. He is the primary contact for summer camp groups and external events at the Margo Jones Performance Hall. He currently serves on three campus committees including the Large Event, Scheduling and Student Code of Conduct committees. In the Denton community, he recently completed a five year stint on the Holiday Lighting Festival Committee and also volunteers with Denton Boys Baseball. He is an active member in the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors – International and is currently the ACCED-I Region 7 Director - Elect. David graduated from Baylor University and has a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications and a Master of Science in Education, Sport Management. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and two kids.
