AHNS (Association of Hispanic Nursing Students):
AHNS exists for the purpose of recruiting, mentoring, and providing support and opportunities to all prospective and current nursing students with a focus on Hispanic students. This organization also provides education as well as promotes cultural sensitivity and awareness of the Hispanic culture within the student body. Additionally, it fosters the development and improvement of health care for all people, in particular, Hispanic ethnic groups, through the concerted efforts of AHNS members.
MAHSO (Muslim Allied Health Students Association):
MAHSO's goals are to promote interfaith dialogue and to achieve a better understanding of Islam among Muslim and non-Muslim TWU students. Participation in volunteer services within the community at large is a high priority, as well as active support of social and spiritual needs.
NGSA (Nutrition Graduate Student Association):
Member students provide opportunities for various career paths to be explored in Nutrition and Food Science, and promote healthy eating among university students.
Student Christian Ministry:
This group of dedicated students has chosen a spiritual path to travel as they make their journey in life at TWU. Through prayer, these gathered students encourage and hold each other up, as they seek to deepen their relationship with God through Christ.
SPP (Student Partner Program):
During Orientation, this "pairing" program begins with partnering a senior nursing student with a newcomer. From the knowledge and experience shared by the senior, a smoother transition is created for the new student, who can benefit from increased networking opportunities, insight to maneuver through challenges plus recognizing and embracing moments of success that are offered.
SOTA (Student Occupational Therapy Association):
This long-standing organization broadens the awareness of recent developments within the field of Occupation Therapy, encourages interest in this academic area and cultivates a social life for respective members.
SPTA (Student Physical Therapy Association):
Leadership development is woven into all this group accomplishes. Besides promoting interest in Physical Therapy within and outside the university community, this group takes very good care of its members by supporting fellow students financially for conference attendance. Additionally, they dedicate a significant portion of their time to community service.
TNSA (Texas Nursing Student Association):
Steeped in tradition under the umbrella of the national organization, members here at TWU – Houston take a serious interest in developing the whole student. In addition to on-going educational programming in the field, this group also cultivates a sense of responsibility for health care of folks in all walks of life, and dedicates itself to the highest quality health care.
