Redbud Awards

The Redbud Awards are a long standing tradition at Texas Woman's University. The ceremony was established to recognize the students, faculty, and staff for their exemplary performance throughout the academic year. The T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences- Dallas Center hosted their first Redbud Awards ceremony in the Spring of 2011. This ceremony is unique in that it solely recognizes students, faculty, and staff from The Dallas campus.

January

13-15th (M-W):Welcome Back Information Tables (All Day, 1st Floor)

15th (W):  Dallas Campus Redbud Award Nominations Open (All Day, Online)

21st (Tu): SGA Meeting (12pm-1pm, Room 3609)

22nd (W):  Welcome Back Bash (11am-1pm, Room 3620)

22nd (W):  SGA Election Applications Avalible (5pm, Online)

27th (M): Sleep & Academic Success (12pm-1pm, Room 3620): Are you sacrificing sleep in order to meet your academic, work, and life demands? Come learn ways to maximize the sleep you do get and hear the scoop on why getting more sleep may improve your performance more than extra study.

February

4th (Tu): Go Red Luncheon (Cafe, 3rd Floor): A heart healthy lunch featuring Pesto Salmon, BBQ Grilled Tofu, Grilled Asparagus and Butternut Squash & Barley Ragu.  There will be a Go Red group photo at 12:00 in the 1st Floor Lobby. 

4th (Tu):  Global Healthcare Series Pt 1(12pm-1pm, Room 3620): Four Corners: If you had to live a different life, what would you choose?  Come explore how our thoughts and feelings about people who differ from us influence our perceptions of others.  This interactive session will challenge you to examine your reactions and how they may impact your work with patients. Food will be provided by Student Life when you RSVP on blackboard, by emailing dallasstudentlife@twu.edu, or call Kristin Spain at 214-689-6692. "Each attendee of the Global Health Care Series Workshops will be awarded a Global Citizen Certificate of completion"

7th (F): Legal Services Available (11am- 2pm, By Appointment): Get free advice and documents for a varity of topics such as wills, tenant rights, immigration matters, and employment law.  To Schedule an Appointment: Come to Student Life and fill out a request form for more information visit http://www.twu.edu/legal-services/

12th (W):  Resume Workshop (12pm-1pm, Room 3620): How to improve your resume and stand out in a large pool of applicants! RSVP by 2/10 through blackboard to receive a free lunch. 

17-19th (M-W): Career Services Job Consultation Appointments (9am-4pm, Room 3600): Schedule an appointment through Blackboard.

18th (Tu):SGA Meeting (12pm-1pm, Room 3609)

19th (W):  Interview Workshop (12pm-1pm, Room 3620): Come learn to improve your interview skills and find out what companies and businesses are looking for in the interview process.  RSVP by 2/17 through blackboard to receive a free lunch.

24th (M):  Health Fair & Blood Drive (10am-2pm, Room 3620): Healthy Heart, Healthy You, Healthy TWU! Come join us for a blood drive, bone marrow registry, fitness & health screenings, healthy snacks, games, prizes and much more!

25th (Tu): S.G.A. Election Applications Due (5pm)

March

3rd (M): Nursing & Healthcare Admin Career Day (10am-1pm, Room 3620): Meet with employers to explore job opportunities and internships.  Business professional attire required, and bring copies of your resume to distribute.  Visit www.twu.edu/career-services for a list of participating employers

4th (Tu): Global Healthcare Series Pt. 2 (12pm-1pm, Room 3620): "Bridging the Communication Gap"- Join us for an introduction to Medical Spanish Workshop for all Healthcare Professionals! This introductory workshop will benefit all healthcare professionals clinical & non-clinical to improve communication with Hispanic patients and family members.

5th (W): Dealing With Perfectionism (12pm-1pm, Room 3620): Feeling the pressure to excel? Holding yourself to standards and expectations that you don’t hold for others? Find out how perfectionism may be holding you back and ways to be more compassionate to yourself and others.  Please RSVP through Blackboard by 12pm on 3/3 or bring your lunch.
