Reading Recovery Faculty receives Cornaro Award at Honors Convocation

Anne Simpson was awarded the Cornaro Award in April 16, 2015. The Cornaro Award is presented annually to recognize an outstanding Texas Woman's University faculty member for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and achievement in appreciation for service to Texas Woman's University. This award requires 10 or more years of service to TWU. Anne Simpson is a professor in the Department of Reading and directs the Reading Recovery® training center at TWU. She co-authored A Site Coordinator's Guide to the Effective Implementation of Reading. She currently serves as the editor for the research strand for The Journal of Reading Recovery and she is active in the development of school-wide literacy leadership courses that include training for literacy coaches and intervention specialists.

DLL was featured in the “Real Programs for Real People” section of the Committee for Education Funding Hotsheet for May. The Hotsheet is distributed to all 535 House and Senate members’ offices on Capitol Hill, plus 100 CEF organizational members.

Congressional Record (June 5, 2008):  U.S. Congressmen Nick Lampson entered his favorable impressions of the RR/DLL work being accomplished based on his observations in the Fort Bend (Texas) I.S.D.

What Works Clearinghouse (WWC), a branch of the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), released a 3-year independent review of the experimental research on Reading Recovery in March 2007. This authoritative, independent assessment clearly establishes that Reading Recovery is an effective intervention based on scientific evidence.
