Doctoral Program
The Texas Woman's University College of Nursing doctoral program is available in either the Houston or Denton campuses. Located in the fourth largest city in the nation, the Houston Center is in the heart of Texas Medical Center and provides diverse opportunities for education.
The mission of the doctoral program is to develop nurse scholars who contribute to the profession of nursing. The program has a research focus in which students investigate problems related to human health, primarily in areas influencing women's health. The program also offers students additional opportunities for significant study in areas of individual interests through a broad selection of substantive and methodological elective courses. An advisory committee can assist students in securing elective experiences that will facilitate their knowledge and research expertise.
Efforts are made to match faculty and student research areas. Faculty research and practice initiatives have created linkages to numerous organizations in the Texas Medical Center and surrounding areas. These linkages afford the student rich research opportunities.
