PhD Program

The PhD program on the Denton Campus began in 1971 and has been graduating PhD nurses ever since!  We are so proud of our graduates who serve in such roles as  teachers, researchers, or administrators throughout the State of Texas and the nation.

Students in our program attend either full time or part time.  All of the nursing PhD courses in Denton are at least 51% online.  Students come to campus about 3 – 4 times for each course with the remainder of the work online.  Therefore, we have doctoral students from all over Texas and adjoining states.  A sample program plan for Denton doctoral students is attached.  Although the sample indicates full time enrollment, part time study is available.  Students also can take courses on our Houston campus as well  and information about the Houston schedule is available on the College of Nursing Houston website.

Our PhD faculty are actively engaged in research.  Please go to the Denton Faculty link on this website to review the faculty’s research interests and activities.  When considering a PhD program, it is very important to investigate whether there are faculty engaged in a program of research that is compatible with your interests.

I would be delighted to talk you about our program.  Please contact me by phone or email if you would like further information.
