Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNLs) are leaders in the health care delivery system who manage at the point of care, and assume an advanced generalist's clinical practical role. CNLs function within a microsystem and assume responsibility for healthcare outcomes for a specific group of clients through assimilation and application of research-based information to design, implement, and evaluate plans of care. CNLs are providers and managers of care and facilitate lateral integration of clinical services.
