Texas Woman’s University Department of Music and Drama offers small classes and highly individualized instruction within a supportive environment. The Vocal Studies faculty members help to prepare undergraduate vocalists for careers in performance, studio instruction, music education, music therapy, and related fields. At the graduate level, singers can pursue either vocal performance or vocal pedagogy degrees. The vocal pedagogy track prepares the vocalist to establish and maintain a vocal studio. Included in this degree plan are two semesters of advanced vocal pedagogy courses with accompanying fieldwork, applied voice instruction, the opportunity to direct operatic scenes, vocal literature seminars, and a graduate recital. The vocal performance track prepares the vocalist to excel as a professional soloist. Included in this degree plan are applied voice instruction, two graduate recitals, vocal literature seminars, and the opportunity to direct operatic scenes.
