Mr. Pinson teaches all four levels of Music Therapy Practicum, Music Therapy Skills, Arranging, and Functional Piano. He has been a member of the faculty since 1997.  From 1978 to 1997 he was Music Director at Denton State School, a residential facility for persons with developmental disabilities. Mr. Pinson is co-author with Dr. Donald Michel of Music Therapy in Principle and Practice (Charles C. Thomas, 2006), a textbook that was translated into Japanese in 2007.  As a composer, Mr. Pinson has had over 100 hymns, songs and instrumental pieces published and recorded. He has received the ASCAP-Plus Award every year since 2000. He is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and former President of the Southwestern Region - AMTA. He is also a former member of the board of directors of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. Mr. Pinson is founding director of the Denton Bell Band, an ensemble made up of adults with disabilities, and he directs the Denton Senior Center Chime Choir and the Redbud Ringers, a student ensemble of music therapy majors.
