About the Program

The program leads to Texas teacher certification for grades K-12, providing the option to teach instrumental or vocal music at the elementary or secondary level. Courses in this degree prepare graduates to work as:

  • Elementary Music Specialists
  • Middle or High School Band, Orchestra, or Choir Directors

Courses are integrated with outreach and service to local schools. We offer a practical application of our curriculum and opportunities to interact with music students at events hosted by the Pioneer Music Educators Association (PMEA).

TWU Music Education major uses his teaching skills on a mission trip in Mexico

Watch how Sam Guzman uses skills he learned in Intro to Music Ed and Elementary Methods in his work in Mexico this year. Not only did he help build houses, he taught music to children who don't have music classes in their schools.
