Jana Harwell serves as a Graduate Assistant and Accompanist. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in accompanying, vocal pedagogy/performance, and a Texas All-Level Teaching Certification in Music. In the summer of 2011, Jana graduated from the McClosky Institute of Voice in Boston, Massachusetts with a certification as a vocal technician. This enables her to work with singers who have had vocal issues such as nodules, polyps, etc. She is currently enrolled at TWU as a graduate student, where she plans to receive a Masters of Music degree with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy.
Jana has taught private voice and piano for many years and she is currently teaching voice and piano as well as accompanying in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. She has served in various church staff positions as an accompanist and has directed many choirs and ensembles. She is currently a vocalist, pianist, and organist at First Baptist Church, Arlington, TX.
Jana is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Texas Music Educators Association. She currently sings with the Arlington Master Chorale where she has also had the opportunity to accompany for events such as Texas Choral Directors Association, Carnegie Hall in NYC, and the Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas. The Arlington Master Chorale recently sang at the National ACDA Convention in Dallas in March of 2012.
Jana continues to sing and accompany professionally for different events and she currently lives in Hurst, Texas. She is married to Dale Harwell and they have two children, Andrew and Haley. Jana also enjoys art, decorating, cooking, and exercising at her local fitness center.
