Start Smart in September 2013 @ TWU Libraries Info Skills Workshops!

Through the month of September, the TWU Libraries (Denton) is offering Info Skills workshops to ALL TWU undergraduate and graduate students. Library staff will show you how to use the best resources to find information you need. You will learn how to use subject guides, full-text resources, basic/advanced search options, search strategies and access requirements.

Certificates of Completion will be awarded for each workshop completed. Snacks will be provided too! An even better incentive? Ask your professor if you will get extra credit by completing library Info Skills workshops. Get ready for a successful new school year—come to the library to get the skills YOU need to succeed. And bring a friend!

Everything You Wanted to Know but Were Afraid to Ask: Using Archival Collections to Support and Promote Your Research
Join us for 45 minutes and learn how archival collections can transform your research. Whether it is letters, diaries, or journals, students will learn the fundamentals about evaluating primary, secondary, and tertiary resources.

Attendees will tour the vault and learn what types of items are housed in it and why. This session will introduce you to the world of rare and one-of-a-kind documents, images, and artifacts never seen before and how the hidden world of special collections can spark scholarly inquiry and intellectual curiosity.

Stump the Archivist: Using the Woman’s Collection for Your Next Project
This 45 minute session provides students with an introduction to the Woman’s Collection and includes a tour of the vault. Students are encouraged to come with research ideas and put our staff to the test to locate primary source materials related to your suggested topics.
