General Orientation Information
- Am I required to attend orientation?
- Graduate Orientation is optional but highly encourage.
- What is Orientation?
- Orientation is a way for the Graduate students to get to know the campus prior to the first day of classes.
- Who can attend Orientation?
- Any graduate student that has been accepted to the University for the Fall 2013 semester and any guests that the student wishes to invited.
- When is Orientation?
- For those that have been accepted for the Fall 2013 semester your orientation is August 20, 2013
- What do I need to do before I come to orientation?
- You will need to register for orientation. Please note that our registration for Graduate Orientation will be up the first week of November.
- What do I need to bring?
- Bacterial Meningitis vaccination record (Required in order to register for classes)
- Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes
- A sweater, as some of the meeting rooms may be cool
- Where will I stay during Orientation?
- Graduate Orientation is a one-day program; therefore it will be up to the student and/or their guests as to if you stay in Denton for the evening. Denton has many hotels throughout the town that would be more than happy to accommodate you and/or your guests.
- How will I know that I am registered for orientation?
- Once you register online you will receive a confirmation email to your TWU email account.
- Can I change the number of guests I am bringing after registering?
- We can accommodate guest changes at any time, but you will be responsible to pay for the number of guests you bring with you that morning during check-in.
Orientation Program Information
- What time does the Orientation Program begin?
- Orientation begins promptly around 2:30pm in Hubbard Hall.
- What time does the Orientation program end?
- Orientation ends around 6:30pm.
- Do I have to see an advisor?
- Graduate advisors will not be on hand to answer any specific questions. If you have a questions about your specific courses you will need to contact your graduate advisor on your own. However if you are trying to register for classes and you have a "Student Orientation" hold on your account pleas please contact the Center for Student Development at 940-898-3626 or email orientation@twu.edu
- Where do I park?
- You may park anywhere on campus as long as you do not have a TWU decal on your vehicle and you do not park in any Disability or State Vehicle parking spaces (both of these are marked with a white curb). For a map of campus please click here.
- Can I stay overnight?
- Graduate Orientation is a one-day program; therefore it will be up to the student and/or their guests as to if you stay in Denton for the evening. Denton has many hotels throughout the town that would be more than happy to accommodate you and/or your guests.
Orientation Payment Information
- What is the fee to attend Orientation?
- Graduate Student Orientation fee is $20
- Parent/Guest fee is $20
- What does this fee include?
- The fee includes but is not limited to a meal, handbooks, program materials, t-shirt, and other supplies to help ensure that all our Graduate students have a good start in the fall.
- How do I pay the Orientation fee?
- Graduate Students and guest need to pay their fee at the time they register for Orientation or when they arrive at Orientation check-in.
- What is the cancellation policy?
- All cancellations must be requested in writing two weeks prior to the date of orientation to the Center for Student Development in order to receive a refund totaling the amount you paid less a $10.00 administration charge. Any requests received within two weeks of the date of Orientation or after the Orientation program has begun will not receive a refund. Please note that if you wish to simply change your date, email TWU Orientation at orientation@twu.edu
