How to Apply

1. Determine your eligibility. Most students are eligible for some aid from the federal government.
2. Create an FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID), if needed. The FSA ID will serve as an electronic signature on your FAFSA.
3. Complete the FAFSA application  
   1. Make sure to use TWU's Federal School Code: 003646
4. Submit all required documentation
5. Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) for any discrepancies and/or important messages about your aid eligibility
   1. The SAR is a summary of your FAFSA data and will display your Expected Family Contribution (EFC,) which is used to determine your aid eligibility
   2. You should review your SAR for any errors you may have made on the FAFSA and review the messages provided on the SAR about your aid eligibility
   3. Your FAFSA information will be received by TWU after it is processed by the federal processor
6. Create a TWU Pioneer Portal or login to your account to confirm TWU received your FAFSA and check for requests for additional documents to complete your financial aid file
   1. TWU will contact you through Pioneer Portal if any documents are missing
7. Check your TWU email regularly for important information about your financial aid

After the FAFSA

Your file will be reviewed within 3-6 weeks after the Financial Aid Office has received all required forms for the programs you have applied for. Once your FAFSA has been received and all requirements have been met, watch for your official financial aid notification, then:

1. Accept or reject your financial aid award in Pioneer Portal
2. If awarded a loan, complete any needed Direct Loan Promissory Note and Entrance Loan Counseling as directed by StudentAid.gov
