Welcome to the Department of Family Sciences, the third largest department at Texas Woman's University. It is my pleasure to serve students, faculty, and staff as the department chair.

Our mission... is to provide quality academic education in the scientific study of family, thereby stimulating students’ intellectual curiosity; developing their research and leadership skills and their personal and civic responsibilities; and promoting diversity and respect for multiple family forms.

Chancellor's Student Research Scholar

The Chancellor’s Student Research Scholars program honors outstanding achievement by select students in research and creative art endeavors.  In addition to awards, these students were honored at a luncheon TWU's Chancellor and President hosted for them during the Symposium and was recognized at Convocation and will also be recognized at Spring Commencement.  Congratulations to doctoral student Amy C. Johnson as a 2016 award recipient!


Congratulations to NCFR's spring 2016 honors graduates!

The National Council on Family Relations awarded honors to two Family Sciences students who are completing their academic programs in spring 2016.  The NCFR Honors Student Recognition is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and community service in the family field.  The TWU recipients are Brittany Carnley and Julie McCauley.
