Tier 1

Whole-school Professional Development

This tier is aimed at training all professional staff at Denton and Braswell High Schools, including faculty, administrators, and support staff, such as counselors, on evidenced-based methods of teaching adolescent ELLs using ELLevate!’s three-pronged approach: language, literacy, and engagement.

Tier 1 professional development is ongoing, occurs each semester, and totals nine professional development sessions for each high school. Each of the professional development sessions is one to three hours long and must include all educators in the school. Some of the sessions are in large groups at faculty meetings, while others occur in the schools’ existing professional learning communities.
