2008-2009 Distance Education Annual Report / Home

"When I started to teach courses in an online venue, I did not want to be a teacher that posted a PowerPoint presentation and called it “done”. I tend to use a lot of models and demonstrations in an on-campus class to try to bring concepts to students in various ways. I did not have any idea of how to have that same approach in an online class…Heidi was instrumental in assisting me design and build a new online anatomy and physiology course in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department…As the number of online students continues to grow, and becomes increasingly competitive with other educational institutions, it is of the utmost importance that our online classes be not only user-friendly, but contain material that delivers a superior, cost-effective product to online students.  I believe the use of instructional designers is the key to delivering to our students the best quality of online education that we can."
~ Kim Mory, M.A., Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
